2018 Women’s Month Celebration at BJMP

Last March 16, 2018 the Metropolitan Naga Water District (MNWD) conducted an outreach activity at the BJMP Naga City District Jail in Barangay Del Rosario, Naga City consistent with proclamation No. 227 s. 1998, the annual conduct of National Women’s Month Celebration.

The women detainees were treated to personal care, beautification, and food for this year’s Women’s Month fitting for the theme “We Make Change Work for Women.”

This year’s celebration aims to:

•       Inform and engage women as stakeholders of government programs and services to promote citizen-centric governance and make “change” a conscious effort to know, understand, and provide what ALL citizens need
•       Create and facilitate platforms to discuss good practices, gaps, challenges, and commitments in pursuing gender and development (GAD) to strengthen implementation of the Magna Carta of Women, and;
•       Inspire and empower women and girls to be agents of change to contribute in promoting gender equality and the empowerment of all women

The role of women in the society has definitely made a constructive shift from the conventional norm. The Women’s Month Celebration further concludes that Filipino women are now empowered citizens who exemplify compassion, pillars of development and progress, and key contributors in nation-building.
