Administrative Services Department leads “Limpya Salog Naga”

The Management and personnel of the Metropolitan Naga Water District (MNWD) gathered at the Landing Site in Basilica early morning of Friday, August 23, 2019 for the “Limpya Salog Naga: Dolot kan MNWD sa Kahimanwa,” in celebration of the MNWD’s 40th Anniversary.

Spearheaded by the Administrative Services Department led by Jon Louie A. Sanchez, Department Manager, in partnership with the City Environment and Natural Resources Office (ENRO), the clean-up drive aimed to protect the Naga River Basin and ingrain sensitivity among Nagueños towards the preservation of this historic landmark. Further, as we gear towards the utilization of surface water through the construction of the Bicol River Surface Water Treatment Facility, more attention is required to save our water tributaries including the Naga River.

Apart from the clean-up drive, Dir. Gilbert N. Albero and GM Virgilio B. Luansing I likewise led the Tilapia fingerlings and Bokashi balls dispersal with the help of the Philippine Coast Guard and Solid Waste Management Office. Devised by the Japanese to clean ponds, Bokashi balls are fist-sized balls of garden soil, molasses, rice, and an effective microorganism solution.

In his message, Dir. Albero stressed the sincerity and commitment of the MNWD community to ensure water sustainability within our service jurisdiction. According to him, we are so much blessed with natural resources hence, the yearning to give back to the environment as our means to express our profound gratitude. He said, “Gratitude makes everything perfect.”

The Limpya Salog Naga is yet another meaningful undertaking for the MNWD community. Through this, we are given the opportunity to celebrate at the same time engage in significant deeds that will positively impact the community and the environment. (Auria S. Gonzales)
