MNWDEU hosts National Council Conference

The Metropolitan Naga Water District Employees Union (MNWDEU) is hosting the 31st Semi-Annual National Conference of the Alliance of Government Workers in the Water Sector (AGWWAS) here in the 3rd Floor of the MNWD Bldg., Naga City from April 19 to 21, 2017.

About 100 union members of water districts from all over the Philippines are expected to attend the conference. This year’s theme is “Advancing Workers’ Rights to Ensure Delivery of Quality Essential Public Services.”

Vice President of the Philippines, Leni G. Robredo graced the occasion on the first day.

Mayor John G. Bongat will deliver the welcome message on the program proper on day 2. In behalf of the MNWD, Chairman Jorge T. Palma and Acting General Manager Virginia I. Nero will each give their inspirational messages.

Ronald P. Sarmiento, president of the MNWDEU, the host union, is on top of the preparations and event activities, mostly at the function hall of the water district’s office.

Recent issues and concerns of individual unions with proposed resolutions, educational forum on advocacy campaign on watershed protection program, launching of human rights to water and sanitation for Southern Luzon regions, a plenary, commitment settings, and action plans are the main activities of the water districts employees unions conference.

Any conference wouldn’t be complete without a time to forge bonds. A solidarity night on the second day, April 20, is set at the Champagne Garden, Mayon Avenue, Naga City.
