Philippine Watershed Management Coalition Elects Palma as Board of Director

The Metropolitan Naga Water District (MNWD) takes pride in the election of Chairman Jorge T. Palma as member of the Board of Directors for Luzon at the Philippine Watershed Management Coalition (PWMC) last April 25, 2018.

The PWMC is a non-government organization registered on September 25, 1999 at Shalom Center, Malate, Manila. Its vision is to become a strong and responsive organization working for the protection and rehabilitation of watersheds across the country.

PWMC serves as a platform for continuing education, discussing and responding to watershed issues, advocate responsive policies, and promote participatory action research for effective management of the watersheds. It is supported by institutions from the USA, Canada, Germany, and Japan.

Meanwhile, PWMC members enjoy getting updated information on watershed laws and policies affecting the local water districts, awareness on issues about watershed management, participation in policy-making, and research on watershed-related areas.

The coalition’s stakeholders are government agencies such as the Department of Environment and Natural Resources (DENR), Laguna Lake Development Authority (LLDA), Department of Interior and Local Government (DILG), Department of Agrarian Reform (DAR), and State Universities and Colleges (SUCs) to name a few.

Chairman Palma’s election in the PWMC Board of Directors for Luzon signifies the strong leadership that MNWD draws inspiration from.

Congratulations Chairman Palma! Your MNWD family is definitely proud of your success and recognition in this industry. (Auria S. Gonzales)
