Travails and Triumphs amid a Pandemic: MNWD Holds 2020 Year-end Assessment

The Metropolitan Naga Water District (MNWD) held its 2020 Year-end Assessment last December 11, 2020 at the MNWD compound. Not only was the event made to acknowledge the MNWD’s achievements for the whole year and to recognize the efforts made by the employees, but also a celebration of its 41st Anniversary.

Now on its 41st year of service in providing safe and potable water, the MNWD offered a thanksgiving mass and blessing of new facilities that include the Septage Treatment Facility, Monte Cielo and Cararayan 4 pumping stations, and the new MNWD Laboratory and ComCen offices. These new facilities are essential to the MNWD’s objective of improving the quality of service given to its growing number of consumers.

During the event while observing strict health measures, General Manager Engr. Virgilio B. Luansing I shared his experiences throughout the year both as head of agency and an ordinary citizen facing a pandemic. In his message, he mentioned the importance of good health, family, work, and most of all, faith in God almighty. Indeed, MNWD is strong and fortunate enough to have endured this year’s challenges, including the ones brought about by the pandemic. Moreover, the event was made even more meaningful with a message from CSC Field Office Director Ma. Dolores D. Salud who sent her regards and well wishes for MNWD.

Part of the highlights of the event is the awarding ceremony in recognition of employees who have shown their loyalty to the MNWD throughout the years and who have given their best efforts in the performance of duty. Loyalty awardees include Maria Andrina D.L. Vitalicio, with 40 years in service. Retirees Alex D.S. Morales and Jose M. Relleve were also honored for the years spent in public service.

There are still several things to be done especially this coming 2021; more goals to be attained and projects to be realized. This year was nothing like what we at MNWD had expected. Yet, it has made us more resilient and adaptable to change. (YMMSavilla)
