MNWD, ADNU HS Batch ‘70 hold Tree Planting & Educational Visit at STF

On Friday, July 3, 2020, 200 marabay and narra seedlings were planted for the Tree Planting and Educational Visit of the Ateneo de Naga University High School Batch 70 in partnership with the Metropolitan Naga Water District (MNWD) at the Septage Treatment Facility (STF) and Farm Tourism Center, Sitio Caromatig, Brgy. Carolina, Naga City.

With the theme “Trees for Sustainable Communities,” the said activity is an offshoot of the Memorandum of Agreement entered into by Ateneo de Naga University General Alumni Association (ADNUGAA) and Metropolitan Naga Water District last February 22, 2020.

The partnership between ADNUGAA and MNWD focuses on the Watershed Rehabilitation, Protection, and Community Development to ensure water sustainability and environmental integrity of the Mt. Isarog Natural Park (MINP) and the Naga River Watershed.

Members of the ADNU HS Batch ‘70 organized the Tree Planting and Educational Visit in support of the partnership and to create more green spaces within Naga City, bringing opportunities for a better quality of life for the people in the community and nearby areas.

In return, apart from providing the site and the seedlings, MNWD will nurture and monitor the growth and sustainability of the seedlings planted by ADNU HS Batch ‘70 and other groups from the ADNU community, henceforth.

Despite the unsettling conditions brought by the Covid-19 pandemic and the aggravating effects of climate change, MNWD and its stakeholders like ADNUGAA persist to develop relevant programs that will respond to the challenges of time.

Over the years up to this day, we’ve seen a constant battle between economic progress and environmental sustainability. The good news, however, is that we can close the gap and create solutions to end this plight through collective effort and inclusivity of all key players. The Tree Planting and Educational Visit of ADNU HS Batch 70 reminded us that every action is a step closer to what we want to achieve. (APVSGonzales)
