MNWD completes Relocation Activity of Sta. Cruz-Abella main water pipeline

On July 23, 2020, the Metropolitan Naga Water District (MNWD) completed the relocation project of the three (3) main water pipelines along Sta. Cruz-Abella. The project consists of relocation and installation of new pipes amounting to ₱3,246,479.00 says, the Engineering and Environment
Department (EED).

The project targeted the three major waterlines along the following city streets: Corner J. Hernandez Avenue/Arana St. to Sta. Cruz Brgy. Hall, Brgy Sta. Cruz; Felix Plazo St., Brgy Igualdad to Brgy. Sabang; and Abella Road to Abella Brgy. Hall, Brgy Abella, Naga City. A total of 693 meters with 150mm-200mm diameter of quality pipes were installed – expected to safely transmit clean and potable water to all consumers within the area.

This upgrade and relocation is part of the MNWD Improvement Plans on its Water Quality Services, which is integral to all water districts to ensure continuous supply and a crucial element for business continuity. More specifically the project was designed to improve supply reliability, reduce service disruptions, and increase water flows on top of securing non-contamination of water resources.

Further, the repositioning of the water utility lines was necessitated in response to the recent road and drainage development projects of the local government. In main road activities, waterlines require equal attention to mitigate pipe damages, contamination of our water source, and water loss. During the activity implementation, series of excavation and interconnection to existing waterlines were maneuvered including an installation of a fire hydrant.

Aside from pioneering infrastructures and facilities, MNWD is also invested in securing our base waterlines as this transports needed water from the main source down to every household. A reliable waterline system is of increasing importance to all water districts especially with MNWD. Over the years, MNWD supply network has seen great developments and more projects await as we make way for more sustainable projects and stringent approaches to counter climate change.
