MNWD Supports DepEd’s Brigada Eskwela 2019

The Department of Education (DepEd) conducted this year’s Brigada Eskwela from May 20 to 25, 2019 with the theme “Matatag na Bayan para sa Maunlad na Paaralan.”

The Brigada Eskwela is the National Schools Maintenance Week which aims to bring back and promote the longtime bayanihan spirit among students, teachers, parents, volunteers, and other education stakeholders by preparing public school facilities prior to the start of the school year.

With the inexhaustible support from the Board of Directors headed by Chairman Jorge T. Palma and the Management team, supervised by General Manager Virgilio B. Luansing I, the Metropolitan Naga Water District (MNWD) fully and continuously supports the annual activity focusing on community involvement and strengthening partnerships by working together as a whole unit.

As part of the MNWD’s support to the program through the Public Relations and External Affairs Section (PREAS), the District provided free inspection and labor on basic waterline repairs to the 19 beneficiary schools with the assistance of the Water Distribution and Restoration Division (WDRD). Headed by Engr. Gilbert Eleazar thru Mr. Wilson Alayan, the group conducted site inspection and identified the materials needed for the said repair. PREAS also distributed customized water drums with faucet and provided information, education, and communication (IEC) materials.

Further, last May 16, MNWD’s official mascot “Isay” joined the Brigada Eskwela kick-off activity held at Balatas Elementary School where a hydration station was also set up.

The District likewise attended the “Let’s Plog-In” program of Tinago National High School by setting up a water station and participating in its Zumba and plogging activities. Same support were also extended to the kick-off and closing ceremonies of Calauag Elementary School on May 18 and 25, respectively.

The MNWD, as a catalyst for growth and excellence, is one with the DepEd’s goal in “nurturing lifelong learners whose values and competencies enable them to contribute meaningfully to nation-building.” (Katrina A. Bonafe)
