DepEd Cam Sur Partners with MNWD for the Pursuit of Quality Education and Environmental Protection

On July 27, 2020, the Metropolitan Naga Water District (MNWD) and the Department of Education Camarines Sur (DepEd Cam Sur) entered into a Memorandum of Agreement (MOA) at the Schools Division Office, Pili, Camarines Sur. This is in response to RA 8525 “An Act Establishing the Adopt-A-School Program and Providing Incentives Therefore and for Other Purposes” which is enacted to encourage private companies to assist in the delivery of better quality education to public schools in the country, particularly in the poverty – stricken provinces. DepEd Cam Sur was represented by Schools Division Superintendent Loida N. Nidea, Ceso V, while, General Manager Virgilio B. Luansing I signed in behalf of MNWD.

This agreement is designed principally for the purpose of collaboration of efforts from MNWD and DepEd for the enrichment of public school’s quality of education, as well as in creating an environment more conducive to learning by having immediate access to basic necessities such as water. While MNWD is committed to provide safe and reliable water to its service coverage area, it also values the importance of igniting the environmental consciousness among people, more importantly, the youth.

Anchored on Order No. 72 s. 2003, it has become a part of DepEd’s objectives to create environmental awareness among Filipino students and spearhead doable and specific projects for the environment.

For years now, DepEd Cam Sur has been connecting with private and government entities including LGUs. Thus, partnering with MNWD increases the amount of help needed in the realization of these goals, as the District shares the same purpose when it comes to the protection and preservation of the environment to ensure a reliable water supply. This partnership serves as a great opportunity for MNWD to help the educational sector and eventually, promote and work side by side for environmental sustainability. (YMMSavilla)
